Players train skills in order to unlock new content, gain various advantages in gameplay, and compete with other players. Skills are loosely divided into three categories, although there are circumstances in which these categories overlap:
- Combat Skills (various aspects of PvP and PvM)
- Gathering Skills (acquiring raw materials)
- Processing Skills (processing raw materials into more useful forms)
Players begin at level 1 in all skills, and earn XP in each skill by performing related tasks. Players may train skills all the way to level 100, at which point they are considered to have achieved skill mastery and are awarded a Skillcape, a special cape in honor of their achievement.
Levelling Up Edit
The amount of experience required to advance to the next level in any given skill is a function of the player's current level, and increases exponentially according to following formula:
ΔXP is the amount of experience required to advance from level (L) to level (L + 1) for 1 ≤ L ≤ 99.
Players who have never joined the server are considered to be level 0 in all skills, but players are awarded a single experience point in each skill upon their first login, granting them level 1. Including this single XP point, exactly 1,000,000 experience is required to advance to level 100, the maximum possible level. Once a player reaches level 100 in a given skill, he or she may continue to gain experience indefinitely but will not level up.
